Enrolling in Flight Training Courses
Congratulations! Now that you have made the decision to enroll into a course of training, there are a few steps we need to go through to get you set up for success. Our friendly Customer Service Representatives or Flight Instructors will help you with this process.
Step 1
Call the flight school at 253-840-5758 (Option 1 for Puyallup or Option 2 for Olympia) and let us know that you would like to schedule a day and time to enroll (process takes about 30-minutes, but we typically schedule an hour as most people have additional questions). You will need to bring the following documents with you:
Government-issued Photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License or Passport )
Proof of US Citizenship. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires us to collect proof of US Citizenship in the form of a non-expired US Passport or Birth Certificate. Enhanced driver’s licenses are not accepted. Additionally, original or certified copies of these documents must be brought in for us to verify. Safety in Motion Flight Center is also approved by the TSA to train non-US students. For more information on international student training, click HERE.
If you already have a pilot certificate, be sure to bring it along with you and your medical certificate as well. Even bring your logbook so we can get a feel for your prior experience.
Military veterans are provided a military discount for aircraft rental, so be sure to bring proof of your military service. (Active or retired military ID or DD-214.)
If you have received training from another school or online ground school course, be sure to bring those records/certificates will you as well so that we can evaluate them and possibly award credit for prior training received.
Step 2
If you don’t already have a training kit yet (available at our sister company, Spencer Aircraft and Supply), you will need to purchase a course syllabus and flight training student record. Typically students purchase the whole pilot course kit (Private or Instrument/Commercial) that includes everything you’ll need in the form of study materials. At minimum, bring the syllabus and training record folder with you to the enrollment meeting.
Step 3
At your enrollment meeting, we will make copies of your documents, set up your training folder, get you access to the online student account and scheduling system, determine your flight training schedule, and assign your personal flight instructor.
Step 4
Throughout the enrollment, we’re happy to answer any additional questions you may have. Sometimes it can be helpful to write your questions down in advance and bring them with you so that we can ensure that you are fully informed. If you have questions about cost, click HERE.
